Isi Perjanjian Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement, also known as the Paris Climate Accord, is an international agreement aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change. The agreement was adopted during the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2015 and since then has been ratified by 189 countries.

The main goal of the Paris Agreement is to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, with efforts to limit the increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. To achieve this goal, countries are required to set their own targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and report on their progress towards meeting these targets.

One of the key components of the Paris Agreement is the concept of “common but differentiated responsibilities.” This means that while all countries are responsible for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developed countries – which have historically been responsible for the majority of emissions – have a greater responsibility to take action.

The Paris Agreement also provides support for developing countries to transition to low-carbon economies and adapt to the effects of climate change. This includes financial and technological support from developed countries to help developing nations implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.

The agreement has received both praise and criticism since its adoption. Supporters argue that it is a crucial step towards addressing climate change on a global scale. Critics, on the other hand, argue that the agreement does not go far enough in addressing the urgent threat of climate change.

Despite these criticisms, the Paris Agreement remains a significant achievement in the fight against climate change. It represents a global commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the planet for future generations. As more countries work towards meeting their commitments under the agreement, we can hope to see real progress towards a more sustainable future.
